Then the sound is stored externally. Usually the path for installed games is
C:\Program Files\GameCompany\GameName\
or wherever you specified. If you're lucky they might be stored in an .mp3 or .wav format, if you're unlucky they could be stored in a format only the program can interprete.

It depends on how the file was contructed, whether it's a self extracting archive, a standalone executable or a compressed executable...

There's no real tool to do this, but a collection that can help determine what to do with it. Uniextract can tell you the mime type which should tell you what kind of executable it is and from there you may or may not be able to extract it.

Other tools include:
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/resources_extract.html
and
http://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/xn_resource_editor_portable

have a look around.

Well, if it is included in an exe then it has a reason. You can seriously find out what the sounds are called (or rather music?) and check if you find it on the internet. as it is already in a software, i doubt you are allowed to use it anyway, so you can ask the developer of the software if you are allowed to do so and if yes then he can probably give you a link with the asked files. if not, then leave it...
