1) The capital of Sweden is Stockholm

2) Sweden is part of the EU, but not NATO (but is a member of the NGB)

3) The Swedes have not been in a direct war since 1814

I know the feeling. I just can't wait for the "What do you know about America..." I'm sure every man and his dog has a view on that one.

True that. Zlatan Ibrahimovic was born in Sweden, Malmö(Malmoe in English I guess) and yeah he is a darn good footballer.

@Psytechnic: Indeed it gets boring that's why I made this thread to make it more boring but with a purpose; knowledge of other countries. I'd actually love to see more threads about countries although I'm sick of them, so go ahead and create "What do you know about America?" thread. It's not like there is anything special to do here anyway and we're here for one sole purpose, to create off topics. Same goes for you Schnapsidee.

@SG Master Chief: That's just there if someone is in a bad mood I'm allowing them users to just leave a blank vote then we see how many in this community whose in a bad mood (loll, that's my idea with the blank vote), it's your choice if you want to leave a blank vote or not. Do what you feel is right. I just love blank vote poll options, makes you think doesn't it? you prove to me that you're in a bad mood by leaving a blank vote, yes.

So far Vikings leads the poll. √

I've always considered the vikings as Norwegians and Danes, I just think of Ikea when I think of Sweden really
You got alot to learn about Sweden then.
Island, Greenland, Sweden, Finland, Norway and probably a few more countries were also part of the Viking settlement/explorers.

@hazy707: In 1994 Sweden voted to join the EU and officially became a member on 1st of January 1995.

I've always percieved Sweden and Norway to be quite different, dispite being members.

I see Norway as a more militarian (right adjective?) nation, while Sweden is more economical.

I.E- Sweden is part of the EU, Norway isn't, while Norway is part of NATO, while Sweden isn't, and so forth

Yeah but each country/state has their differences, there has not only been economical but also militarian activity back when the Vikings were active, i.e. you can't keep yourself economical always because you might get under attack by your enemy, so the enemy would plunder and loot victim states to earn and lose at the same time(they earn treasure but many of their own will die) and that's what the Vikings did. Sweden had some war time click link for some history about the Russo-Swedish War (1788-1790).

I'm not saying that Sweden has always been this way, the Swedish were one of the most powerful military nations in the 18th-19th centuries
