FYI:
To open a map, you simply you drop the files into the corresponding folder in your CS2D root folder (eg:. Happytown.map goes to maps folder, tileset goes to gfx/tiles folder, etc)

Then you simply start CS2D and there is a menu called Editor, you just click on that and look for the floppy icon with arrow down.

Pick up the map name in the list and load.

yeah, but aren't there 'scripts' of coding lines to edit too? is the map editor sufficient for editing any and every variable, or are there more parts to editing a map too?

If you are talking about scripts for maps, that's a different story.

But generally the scripts are the same for both mapping and other parts of the server.

- Map Lua file (default: "maps/<NAME OF MAP>.lua")

The only difference afaik is the order and of course you can use scripts on specific elements on the map.
