For ages the game has its very own anti-cheat system. More specifically anti-speedhack system. But this has been proven to be barely useful and sometimes penalized the legit players, while the real cheaters stay undetected.

There is manual moderation, but server owners and/or moderators can hardly be online 24/7, and we need some (global) new anti-cheat system for that.

I don't really understand why CS2D still does not have VAC implemented, it is now on Steam and a multiplayer game, which qualifies for Valve's VAC usage requirements. Is it impossible to implement VAC into CS2D?

If it is because of CS2D's state as Counter-Strike replica that refrains it from getting VAC protected, I would like to suggest BattleEye as an alternative. It has been used by many games and is proved to be successful, at least protecting against loads of cheats.

If it is because implementing new anti-cheat methods require more works, I would like to emphasize that it is crucial to the game. This game already has limited online player base, if cheats go unattended, new players will definitely quit the game once they played against cheaters for a few games.

Sure, it is fine that you do not place a new anti-cheat system. But what of a global USGN ban system? Considering that the game already checks players' USGN on connection, adding a new data for verification shouldn't really consume much traffic. Some bit of code, and it is done.

To be honest, not a lot of people play this game anymore, when it was first launched on steam it was a huge hit, but now it isn't. IF there's not a lot of people, that means theres not alot of hackers, so its not really worth upping the anti cheat system tbh.

I'm sorry but I'm not willing to spend any more time on the cheating issue. It's an endless fight that can't be won.

Commercial solutions (like BattleEye) are not an option for a free zero profit game like CS2D.

VAC works only in games developed in Source Game Engine only!

Says the guy who has actually no idea of Valve Anti-Cheat system. You could implement VAC on your game just fine, doesn't matter if it was built on top of Source engine or not.

Having VAC on CS2D would be definitely great, however since CS2D is written in BlitzMax I am not so sure how easy it is to have VAC implemented on that game. Also you still have a downside, that VAC applies only to Steam users and not to every player. Most of CS2D cheaters either don't use a Unreal Software or a Steam account so that they won't get noticed.

@user GeoB99: Valve's Source games, GoldSrc games, Unreal engine games. It's impossible to use VAC in other games.. Just read the wiki please.

Also other games use PunkBuster and both (VAC & PunkBuster) are called as Anti-Cheat in Steam service.

Can't you bother clicking into my link and see how many non-source and non unreal engine games using VAC? Can't you do research instead of reading wiki giving little information? Can't you make sure you are speaking of the truth before you call others stupid?

Yes, true. Some games still use PB nowadays, but PB's development has halted since 2015, at least their last news update was at 2015. More games use BattleEye now, but it is paid.
